The main Moorcroft marks changed as William Moorcroft moved from Macintyre & Co, at the end of the 19th century and then when Walter Moorcroft took over from his father.

William Moorcroft began independently producing his art pottery creations in 1913 at his factory in Burselm, Stoke-on-Trent, England; although it is generally considered he established his reputation for design and craftsmanship while working at a studio within the James McIntyre & Co. Ltd. He started there 1897 at the age of twenty-four.

William first worked for James MacIntrye & Company as a designer for his ceramics factory from 1898 to 1913, before starting his own pottery company. They produce earthenware vases using proprietary glazes, many with floral patterns.
